For law firms
AI that knows your matters, on a machine in your office. It reads your files where they already live, answers your team with a link to the document, and never sends client information to an outside AI company.
In July 2024 the American Bar Association issued Formal Opinion 512, its first ethics opinion on generative AI. It says lawyers using AI must keep all information relating to a client's representation confidential under Model Rule 1.6 unless the client gives informed consent, and must understand the benefits and risks of the tools they use under Model Rule 1.1. Formal opinions are guidance, and your state bar may say more.
A machine in your office takes the outside AI company out of that picture: the models run on hardware you own, and nothing your team types is sent anywhere else. It does not answer your ethics questions for you. Your own policies, supervision and client communication still apply.
It is not a legal research service: it answers from your firm's own files, not from case law. The best cloud models are still smarter on long, complex tasks. And it does not make a firm compliant with anything. Like every AI, it is not right every time. That is why every answer links to the file or record it came from, so anyone can check it.
Same implementation and management plan at every level; only the machine changes. What each level unlocks

Year one once Apple prices the machine
That is a question for your ethics counsel or state bar; we don't give ethics advice. What we can tell you is how it works: the models run on the machine in your office, nothing anyone types is sent to an outside company, the model is not retrained on what people type, and each workspace answers only from the documents it can see.
It connects to the systems your firm runs on (files, email, practice management, billing) with the permissions you set. Name the systems you use on the consultation and we will tell you exactly which connect; the fixed quote lists every one.
For a firm of up to 10 people, that is the Team level: $4,799 for the machine at Apple's price, $5,000 to $7,500 for the implementation and $1,500 a month for the management plan, so $27,799 to $30,299 in year one and $18,000 a year after. No per-seat fees. A larger firm, or one whose work is long documents, needs Office: $32,499 to $34,999 in year one.
On long, complex tasks the big cloud models are still smarter. On questions about your own matters it has something they don't: every file your firm has, read once at implementation, with answers that link back to the document. Private AI is about control, not about being cleverer.
